for

Renee Paplham is committed to championing the needs of working families in Assembly District 1 by focusing on key issues that directly impact their daily lives and future prospects. Her priorities include improving economic security through affordable child care, raising the minimum wage, cutting taxes for working families, and increasing access to affordable housing.

ABOUT RENEE

ECONOMIC SECURITY

Improve

Economic Security

across our Communities

When elected, I will work to:

Raise the Minimum Wage

Cut Taxes for Working Families

Provide Access to Affordable Child Care

Increase Access to Affordable Housing

By Supporting policies that will:

  • Stabilize and support our struggling childcare sector with the remaining funds from our $7 billion surplus.
  • Increase loan funding for housing rehabilitation and infrastructure improvements.
  • Offer state tax credits for first-time homebuyers.
  • Provide lower-interest loans for working households to renovate and restore homes.
  • Empower local governments with greater authority over zoning and planning to address the impact of short-term rentals on the housing supply.

Healthcare

Affordable Healthcare

for Wisconsinites.

I support Medicaid expansion because it’s a smart investment for Wisconsin. Expanding Medicaid could save the state $1.6 billion over two years—funds that could be reinvested in workforce training, child care, and other critical needs. This expansion would cover an additional 89,700 Wisconsinites, providing much-needed health care to working people whose jobs do not provide accessible or affordable options. It would improve access to essential services like preventive care, chronic disease management, medications, and mental health support. This strengthens workers' productivity and decreases absenteeism, leading them to retain jobs.

Ultimately, it’s about ensuring economic security and a stronger workforce for our state.

Reproductive Healthcare

Protect and Expand Reproductive Healthcare

Everyone deserves the freedom to make their own decisions about their reproductive healthcare.

A woman who is able to make decisions about her reproductive health care, including when to have children, has more control over her economic security. That’s why I support expanded access to contraceptive, so that families can plan for their best future and in Madison, I want to see a more open, honest, and robust conversation on women’s reproductive health and freedom.

Elementary School Kids

EDUCATION

Invest in Public Schools for Better Outcomes and Opportunities for All

I support transparency in education funding. Wisconsin tax dollars should support public education, not private education.

I support efforts to address and fix the funding formula for school districts, as the formula fails to support public education in too many districts.

I support efforts made at the state level to equalize education funds to ensure that rural students and students with special needs receive equal access to educational opportunities.

ENVIRONMENT & PUBLIC HEALTH

Protect Natural Resources and Provide Safe Drinking Water

Safeguarding our natural resources for future generations is critical. Everyone should have safe drinking water, breathe clean air, and live in a community free from pollutants. This will benefit communities' overall health and ensure their economic vitality.

I support water quality initiatives that address PFA contamination and high nitrates and efforts to help rural water systems replace lead pipes.

I support long-term funding of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program to ensure the preservation, protection, and management of public lands for recreational use and environmental protection. The funding decisions for the Knowles Nelson Stewardship program should be transparent to the public.
